Since it's establishment in 1985 as a people centered development organization, CODEC has been growing and evolving into efficient and effective non-governmental development organization in the coastal area of Bangladesh. Institutions and institutional processes being central to the vision and mission of CODEC, it is sensitized in people centered development puts people as the major propeller and major recipient of development. CODEC perspective challenges the mainstream concept of development as one of maximizing socio-cultural entity and economic growth, with the fervent hope that its benefits would trickle down to the people and the focal points would be the underprivileged men, women, children and adolescents of coastal communities.

Fisherfolk Festival

CODEC organized fisherfolk festival on 8th - 10th January 2010 in Cox’s bazar. Honorable Finance Minister, Mr. A.M.A. Muhit, and Jan Møller Hansen, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Denmark, attended in the opening ceremony of the festival. Member of Parliament (MP), Government and non-government officials, journalists, member of civil society, and fishermen from different coastal districts participated in the festival. Danish Ambassador paid his farewell visit to CODEC

The Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh, His Excellency Mr. Einar H. Jensen, paid his farewell visit to CODEC Patuakhali office on 8th July 2010. CODEC arranged a farewell ceremony and cultural programme. He appreciated CODEC for its endeavor to protect and promote the lives and livelihoods of underprivileged coastal community of Bangladesh.


Honorarium and Certificate Distribution

Under National Advocacy Programme, CODEC provided honorarium and certificate to 18 journalists of Laxmipur, Patuakhali and Barguna district. The journalists who wrote more on problems, prospects and development issues of coastal communities were selected by an un-biased local jury committee. Journalists received Taka 5,000/= each and certificate from CODEC. CODEC also arranged two days orientation for 103 journalists of eight coastal Upazilla to improve their professional skills and encourage youths to write more articles about coastal issues and concerns.
